FinNode Announces Web-2-Mobile Competition Winners at Sold-Out Opening Event
Red Herring, Yahoo! and Top Venture Capitalists Participate
Santa Clara, Calif. – January 31, 2007 – Hundreds of entrepreneurs and VIPs in Silicon Valley gathered at the sold-out FinNode opening event last week to congratulate the winners of FinNode’s ‘Web-2-Mobile’ business plan competition. FinNode, which is a business and technology consortium that connects Silicon Valley companies with partners in Finland and the U.S., hosted the party at their new headquarters in Santa Clara.
A panel of eleven judges, which included top names from the Silicon Valley venture capital community and representatives from Red Herring, Yahoo! and a leading mobile phone manufacturer, chose three winners and one honorary mention from a field of nearly one hundred entry submissions. The winning companies are (in alphabetical order):
Mobile Backstage (Finland) – a music-sharing community accessed via mobile phones
N2N Consulting (Singapore) – a peer-to-peer content search and distribution network to move very large data files to/from mobile phones and other devices
SMS Card (United Kingdom) – a CRM-type application for mobile phones (initially targeted at real estate brokers)
Honorable Mention went to TalkPlus, Inc (USA), an already funded company that is building out an international ‘Voice 2.0’ telephony service.
The Web2Mobile event attracted entrants from all over the world who competed for the chance to receive technology development assistance, global business development assistance and media exposure.
