FinNode’s partner VTT maintains an entire division in Turku that is focused on medicine. Advances include screening methods for early phases of drug development; immunology technologies; and a long term research project to collect more than 1 million blood samples from people with diabetes in their family, starting in their birth and following to later years. This data is used for developing models of the development of diabetes – models which have proven able to show signs of a coming diabetes two years before other markers can.

FinNode’s network includes experts in combining systems biology, electronic sensors, data analysis of complex and large data sets, and analytic systems that provide objective numerical results. These innovations have resulted in important and useful commercial products such as home medical tests.
